As collections shift to digital format, new opportunities emerge. Physical space can open new learning experiences for a school community. The presenters shared effective strategies to repurpose vacated space in innovative ways. Maker spaces, and learning commons were addressed as well as other creative models that promote learner engagement. This recorded webinar will benefit K-12 school librarians, classroom teachers, curriculum leaders, administrators, and public librarians.

Michelle Luhtala is the Head Librarian at New Canaan High School in New Canaan, Connecticut. She is the winner of the 2011 “I Love My Librarian” Award, the 2010 National School Library Program of the Year (NSLPY), and the Connecticut Library Association’s 2010 Outstanding Librarian Award.
Nikki Robertson is a veteran educator, librarian and Instructional Technology Facilitator for James Clemens High School in Madison, AL. She is passionate about 1:1 Digital Initiatives, collaboration with other education professionals, and assisting students in becoming well informed, critically thinking digital citizens.
