Introduce science concepts and science processes to young children in a natural, playful way with music and sound activities! In this edWebinar, Early Childhood Music Educator Abigail Flesch Connors will share:

  • Why science experiences are critical to young children’s learning
  • Why music is a strong and meaningful foundation of previous knowledge for children to build on
  • The nuts and bolts of how to help children observe, make predictions, compare and measure, analyze results, and make conclusions based on evidence, all in the context of fun, child-centered play and exploration

Abby will present a variety of musical activities, games and experiments to explore the science behind the sounds of our bodies; the sound quality (timbre) of wood, strings, and metal; loudness; pitch (high and low sounds) and more. There will be time to ask her your questions after her presentation.

All of the activities in this session are aligned with concepts in the National Science Teachers Association Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Early childhood professionals working in Pre-K through second grade classrooms, family daycare teachers, children’s librarians, and science educators working with children and families in children’s museums will all benefit from attending this event. Join us to learn easy, no- or low-cost activities to bring science learning to your early learning classroom with musical activities that stimulate inquiry, critical thinking, and fun!
