edWeb.net and Learning Bird Partner for New Online Professional Community to Help Teachers With Print-to-Digital Transition

LearningBird_Logo_centered_200x200Learning Bird and edWeb.net will partner to support teachers making the print-to-digital curriculum transition with a new, free online professional learning community, The Digital Educator: Skills for Success. The announcement was made today by Henry Ryan, CEO of Learning Bird, a differentiated online learning resource designed for K-12 student success, and Lisa Schmucki, founder and CEO of edWeb.net, a free professional learning and social network.

The Digital Educator community will focus on 21st-century instruction with educators and experts discussing how to create, publish, and share digital lessons to blend, flip, and differentiate learning. Free monthly webinars and interactive live chats will serve as a forum to share ideas, practices, lesson plans and resources. Educators will receive a CE certificate for attending the live webinars or viewing the recording.

“We are so excited to start a professional learning community on edWeb with Learning Bird,” Schmucki said. “Learning Bird is such a great way for teachers to share digital lessons so students can have a virtual world of teachers to help them personalize their own learning. The Learning Bird team will be sharing ideas on many different ways that digital resources can improve teaching and learning.”

Members of The Digital Educator community receive invitations to free webinars and live chats; a CE certificate for attending/viewing webinars; and access to all of the recorded webinars, presentations, resources, and online discussions. Pre-registration for webinars is not required for community members.

“We are thrilled to be working with edWeb as the Digital Educator community is a perfect fit for our mission of both providing a differentiated learning solution for students and supporting teachers,” Ryan said.

The topic for the first webinar – scheduled for 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 20 – is “The Digital Educator 101,” and will be led by the community’s host Roxanne Desforges, head of academic relations at Learning Bird, and Meredith Derian-Toth, education consultant and researcher. Register for the webinar.

Subsequent webinars in the series will be held on Sept. 29, “Creating Compelling Digital Lessons: The Easy Way” and Oct. 22, “Differentiated Instruction: In the Classroom and at Home“. Those who attend any of the live webinars will automatically be emailed a CE certificate.
