edWeb.net and Crayola announce Champion Creativity, a new online professional learning community
edWeb.net and Crayola have partnered to present Champion Creativity: The Power of Art-Infused Education. This professional learning community (PLC) helps educators and school leaders explore how art-infused education builds 21st century readiness, student engagement, and fosters a strong creative, collaborative school culture.
Crayola has had a long-standing relationship with educators: providing lesson plans, leadership resources, and quality art supplies that help facilitate colorful learning. With this new professional learning community, Crayola introduces an initiative that supports art-infused education in schools. The Champion Creativity program gives educators the opportunity to explore what creativity means, why it matters, and how art builds critical thinking and literacy skills. This initiative will showcase how an entire school can unify around art-integration to increase student engagement and achievement. Art-integration creates memorable and meaningful learning experiences across all academic areas.
The Champion Creativity community hosts free webinars and online discussions, and provides a wealth of archived resources. This blended model of real-time and online connectivity makes it easy and fun for educators to share ideas, promising practices, and their own creative exploration examples. They have access to a wealth of resources Crayola provides for free, including lesson plans and videos that showcase innovative teaching strategies. The community is a growing resource that can be accessed any time, anywhere.
An ongoing series of free webinars that mirror Crayola interactive workshops will enable each participant to facilitate a similar session for educators in their communities. Receive free handouts, facilitators’ guides, and videos to share with others. Educators receive a CE Certificate for attending the live webinars or viewing the recording.
The first webinar, “Creativity as a 21st Century Skill,” will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. Eastern Time. Cheri Sterman, Director of Education at Crayola, will present this webinar. Educators are invited to register here.
“We work with principals, art teachers, and other teacher leaders across the country, helping them build the creative capacity within their schools. We’re excited to bring the Creative Leadership workshops online to expand this conversation,” said Cheri Sterman, Director of Education, Crayola. “Joining this community enables educators to connect with thought leaders who share the commitment to using art experiences and the creative process in professional development and across the curriculum.”
Lisa Schmucki, founder and CEO of edWeb.net commented, “We are delighted to launch this new professional learning community with Crayola on creativity and how to leverage the role of art in education. The program will provide ideas and resources for teachers and administrators, in a collaborative community that shares experiences with integrating art and creativity into all subject areas and aspects of learning.”
