Classroom Habitudes: Teaching 21st Century Skills to Brains Wired in the Digital Age

Listen to the interview with Angela Maiers, owner and lead consultant for Maiers Educational Services, and Lisa Schmucki, founder and CEO of edWeb.net, discuss ‘habitudes’ and teaching 21st century skills to brains wired in the digital age.

Angela Maiers discusses classroom habitudes as a way to model and impact the mindset of your classroom.  Students need to be able to be fearless about learning and failure, which is a significant part of learning.  Angela talks about how a 5 year old’s imagination needs to not just be for playtime, but needs to be taken with them as they grow and learn to learn.  Angela adds, “You can’t teach a mindset or habitude, but you can create the conditions where success if eminent because the habitudes are demanded.”

Angela Maiers is a teacher educator and author. She is the owner and lead consultant for Maiers Educational Services, an organization that assists schools and other organizations in meeting their learning and productivity goals.
