Problem Solving and Operations: Addition and Subtraction
The Common Core State Standards describe fifteen different types of math problems which can be solved by addition and/or subtraction, most of which are not addressed in textbooks. In this month’s CCSS in Math webinar on edWeb.net, presenter Sara Moore discussed each type of problem in detail. Using real time sharing, Sara gave interactive examples of these problems with common symbols such and bunnies and apples. She also talked about the developmental progression of these problem types and showed how they illuminate the relationship between addition and subtraction.
